Us How to Get to Puerto:
By air: Puerto Escondido International Airport (located
just west of town on Highway 200), has regular service with Mexicana Airlines
offers between Mexico City through its feeder airline, Click. Flights
to Huatulco International Airport, approximately one hour drive (from the south), there are flights on several airlines and charter companies. We recommend flights to Huatulco, rental cars are less expensive and more available, and can be booked directly Hertz.com (ask for the airline 10% discount, or AAA). Also
available are flights into Puerto and Hualtulco from Oaxaca City.
By car: Highways connect Puerto Escondido with Acapulco,
Oaxaca city and Huatulco. Acapulco lies 200 miles to the north via Highway
200. Highway 131 connects Oaxaca city with Puerto Escondido, about an
eight-hour drive, though another route, highway 175, is often in better
condition. It joins Highway 200 at Pochutla, south of P.E., and takes
about 10 hours to drive.
Use caution driving during the rainy season, July to September, when landslides
and washouts frequently occur. Look out for the speed bumps - called topes
in Spanish. They're not always marked with warning signs, and they're
easy to forget.
By bus: Bus service is available into Puerto Escondido from
Oaxaca city, Huatulco, Acapulco and Mexico City. Go to Tomzap.com for
more information. Puerto has a recently built new bus terminal.
Directions to Casa Chelona:
Main highway east from Puerto: Take Hwy 22 towards Huatulco,
you will see the Villas Cumana sign on the right, located between 156
and 157 kilometer markings on highway. Once you get to the Pemex station
on the right, our road is 5 minutes from there on the right. Look for
the big beautiful tree on the left just before the sign on the right. Turn
Into the Villas Cumanas road, follow through the gates to the end at which
you will see the water. Casa Chelonia is the orange house at the corner on
the RIGHT at the end of the road you are on. Park in the 2nd carport on left, solar lights will light up the path at night, there is also a sensor light at door.
Highway 22 from Huatulco Airport: Turn right out of the airport onto Highway 22, drive about 1 hour. The entrance is around 81.5 to 84.2
kilometers from the Huatulco airport (press your trip switch in the car while in the parking lot). Enter on left side, just past large farm,
inbetween 157 and 156 kilometer markings. There is a sign just before the entrance, look for the road markings, if you pass the big beautiful tree on

turn around, look for the Villas Cumanas sign. Turn
into the Villas Cumanas road, follow through the gates to the end at which
